Softball Recap: Marion County Warriors vs. Moore County Raiders

Marion County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Moore County on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 10-9. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raiders earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

Emma McCallie spent all 9.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on 16 hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Reese Saylors was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Havyn Rogers, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Marion County's loss dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Moore County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-6.

Marion County has already played their next contest, a 13-1 defeat against Tullahoma on the 18th. As for Moore County, they will challenge Lincoln County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
