Baseball Recap: Westlake Takes a Loss

Westlake was the 10-0 winner over Bay when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Demons fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday.

Nicholas Sherwood was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Sean Brouillard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jake Jung, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Westlake dropped their record down to 7-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Bay, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-7.

Looking ahead, Westlake is taking a road trip to face off against Normandy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Demons are facing the Invaders at the right time seeing as the Invaders are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Bay, they will be playing at home against Rocky River at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Rockets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
