Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, St. Thomas More Academy couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Gaston Day Spartans by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Chancellors' defeat signaled the end of their 19-game winning streak.

St. Thomas More Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Gaston Day into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-16, 19-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Despite the loss, St. Thomas More Academy still got an impressive performance from Portia Hale, who had 52 digs and three assists. Hale has been hot, having posted 16 or more digs the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Cecilia Dornan, who had 19 digs.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 23-2. As for Gaston Day, they pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

As of now, neither St. Thomas More Academy nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
