Softball Recap: Preston Knights vs. University Hawks
Preston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 13-0 walloping at the hands of the University Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Preston of the 15-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture on Wednesday.
For University's part, they got a massive performance out of Lexi Elza, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Josalyn Phillips, who went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
Preston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for University, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.
Preston will head out on the road to square off against Tucker County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Preston is facing Tucker County at the right time seeing as Tucker County is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for University, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Jefferson at 3:00 p.m.
