McDowell skates past Asheville with ease

Recap: McDowell Titans vs. Asheville Cougars

The McDowell Titans stacked a 16th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 81-36 victory over Asheville. The win was familiar territory for McDowell who now have six in a row.

McDowell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kensly Stewart led the charge by scoring 20 points. Khloe Joyner was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hazel Capp, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayziah Dillingham, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Asheville struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

McDowell is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Asheville, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McDowell will take on Erwin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McDowell is facing Erwin at the right time seeing as Erwin is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Asheville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Buncombe at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Buncombe has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
