Softball Recap: Williamsville South's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Williamsville South had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Starpoint on Tuesday. The Billies blew past the Spartans 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Billies, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Budzinski made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Olivia Sackel and Lexi Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Sackel went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Johnson went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Johnson has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mac Marranca, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Williamsville South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Starpoint only posted an OBP of .323.

The victory (which was Williamsville South's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. As for Starpoint, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Williamsville South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 19-2 win against West Seneca East on the 1st. As for Starpoint, they have also already played their next game, a 5-3 victory against Hamburg on the 30th.
