Basketball Recap: Potomac Comes Up Short

Potomac suffered their biggest defeat since January 11, 2024 on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Largo Lions and fell 79-48. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Potomac lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Darveon Wiley, who went 7-for-16 to rack up 17 points. Those 17 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Korie Cobham Jr, who posted 13 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Potomac smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Cameron Ward continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Largo, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 17 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Ashe, who earned four points in addition to seven assists and five steals.

Potomac's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Largo, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 18-2.

Potomac has already played their next game, a 67-44 defeat against Oxon Hill on the 14th. Largo has also already played their next match (against Fairmont Heights), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
