Softball Game Preview: Webutuck Warriors vs. Dover Dragons

Webutuck is 1-9 against Dover since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Warriors will challenge the Dragons at 4:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Friday just wasn't the day for Webutuck's offense. They lost 18-0 to Germantown on Friday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Webutuck saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ciara Grey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Dover came up short against Spackenkill on Monday and fell 15-10. The Dragons have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Jolie Green and Daniella Drake did some serious damage despite the final result: Green went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Drake went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two doubles. Those hits marked the first that Green has got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Jones, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Dover's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Webutuck, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Webutuck suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Dover when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
