Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Argyle walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 59-42 victory over the Walnut Grove Wildcats on Friday. The Eagles are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 12 straight.

It was another big night for Maguire Gasperson, who threw for 339 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 44 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September. Julian Caldwell was in the mix too, providing Argyle with two scores.

Walnut Grove lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cameron Newton, who rushed for 184 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. He is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Another passer making a difference was Hayes Hackney, who threw for 304 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Argyle's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Walnut Grove, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 12-1.

Coming up, Argyle will square off against Melissa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten contests. Walnut Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
