Niles West took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Taft, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eagles 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since May 7, 2024.

Lexi Kuffel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

On the hitting side, Niles West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Penny Hutchison, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
