On Monday, Palo Verde faced Bishop Gorman in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Palo Verde Panthers came out on top against the Bishop Gorman Gaels by a score of 19-6. The Panthers are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.

Palo Verde got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexis Manzo out in front who picked up 55 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Manzo also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending three passes. Yolana Huff was another key passer, throwing for 126 yards and three touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Palo Verde's defense and their four sacks. Bishop Gorman's QB won't forget Arden Petkewich anytime soon given she sacked her twice.

Palo Verde pushed their record up to 16-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.3 points per game. As for Bishop Gorman, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 9-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palo Verde will square off against Southeast Career Tech at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have allowed few points on average, (Southeast Career Tech: 9, Palo Verde: 8.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
