Basketball Recap: Evan Berrett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverton over Herriman

Riverton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against the Herriman Mustangs, falling 69-46. While losing is never fun, the Silverwolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Mustangs are ranked fifth).

Riverton lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Evan Berrett, who posted eight points and ten assists. Tyler Warnick was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points.

Even though they lost, Riverton was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. This was only their 13th loss (out of 20 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Herriman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cale Barclay, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Barclay has been hot, having posted 18 or more points the last six times he's played. Drayten Stilson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Riverton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Herriman, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2.

Riverton has already played their next match, a 69-59 victory against Farmington on the 19th. As for Herriman, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-53 win against Riverton on the 21st.
