Volleyball Game Preview: Monticello Ponies vs. Argyle Orioles

Monticello and Argyle are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2021, but not for long. The Ponies will head out on the road to challenge the Orioles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with eight losses in a row, Monticello turned things around against Catholic Central on Saturday. They came out on top against the Hilltoppers by a score of 2-0.

Monticello never let Catholic Central on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-8.

Meanwhile, Argyle hadn't done well against Barneveld recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Orioles put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Orioles in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-10, 25-17.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-9. As for Argyle, their record is now 19-1.

Monticello came up short against Argyle when the teams last played on September 9th, falling 3-1. Can the Ponies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
