Baseball Recap: Ladysmith Comes Up Short

Ladysmith lost to Hayward back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Lumberjacks fell just short of the Hurricanes by a score of 5-4.

Danny Vacho was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Vacho was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Vacho wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kayden Kuc, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Ladysmith's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hayward, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Ladysmith will head out to face off against Flambeau at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hayward, they will take on Aurora Central Catholic in a tournament on Saturday.
