Volleyball Recap: Mauldin Takes a Loss

Mauldin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Catawba Ridge Copperheads. The Mavericks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Copperheads apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Mauldin sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 24-26, 15-9.

Mauldin's loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Mauldin is taking a road trip to challenge Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Catawba Ridge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Wilson on the 23rd.
