Baseball Recap: Aquinas Beats Ontario Christian for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Aquinas extended their winning streak to eight on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 23-2 in the process. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Ontario Christian Knights. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 15-3 victory last Monday.

Gavin Egan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Mason Greenhouse was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Jonathan Tena also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Aquinas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .440 or higher in four consecutive games.

As for Ontario Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-21 record this season. Their defeat continues a trend for the team, making it eight in a row.

On Ontario Christian's side, Brady Dinco made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Logan Escoto was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Aquinas wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-2 win against Linfield Christian on the 5th. Ontario Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
