Basketball Recap: Laali Franco's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Viera over Medgar Evers College Prep

Viera was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-59 heartbreaker at the hands of Medgar Evers College Prep.

Viera's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Laali Franco, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasmin Croom, who put up 15 points.

Viera's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Medgar Evers College Prep, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3.

Viera will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Medgar Evers College Prep also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Prospect Heights at 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
