Softball Recap: Preston Knights vs. North Marion Huskies

Preston extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They came up short against the North Marion Huskies, falling 9-0. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly nine runs.

As for North Marion, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

For North Marion's part, Rayden Satterfield was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Satterfield has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Reagan Ash was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Katelynn Straight, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

As for North Marion, they will head out to face off against Lewis County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Minutemen will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
