Softball Recap: Saugerties Wins Going Away Against Pine Plains

Saugerties never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Pine Plains Bombers with a sharp 7-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Sawyers, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Stefanie Cogswell, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Stafford, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Saugerties moved to 11-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Pine Plains, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-7.

Coming up, Saugerties will be playing in front of their home fans against Beacon at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Sawyers surely won't give up without a fight. Pine Plains does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
