Preview: Waldron Mohawks vs. Hauser Jets
Waldron is 2-8 against Hauser since March of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Waldron Mohawks will head out on the road to challenge the Hauser Jets at 7:30 p.m. Waldron will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 357th, while Hauser is ranked 122nd).
Waldron suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 63-42 defeat at the hands of Jac-Cen-Del. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Waldron in their matchups with Jac-Cen-Del: they've now lost nine in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lucas Shaw, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Max Jones, who scored four points along with four steals.
Hauser has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 39-38 to Franklin County. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hauser has scored all season.
Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Hauser, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.
Waldron was able to grind out a solid win over Hauser when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 47-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waldron since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
