Football Game Preview: Joshua Owls vs. Red Oak Hawks

The Joshua Owls are taking a road trip to face off against the Red Oak Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Joshua is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Tyler just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They and the Lions were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 17-16 loss. While the Owls had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Lions 6-0.

Meanwhile, Red Oak ended up a good deal behind Highland Park on Friday and lost 52-35. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Scots are ranked 33rd).

Joshua will have to contain Billy Middleton as he made an impact in Red Oak's last game. He rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 179 yards and one TD. Brayden Robinson also helped out with an impressive 120 receiving yards.

Joshua's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Red Oak, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Joshua couldn't quite get it done against Red Oak when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 21-14. Can the Owls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
