Tarboro is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Hobbton is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Vikings will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tarboro knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Hobbton likes a good challenge.
Tarboro is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They really took it to Camden County for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven matchups by 28 points or more so far this season.
Tarboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kamerin McDowell-Moore, who rushed for 75 yards and one touchdown. McDowell-Moore showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 68 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tarboro was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 244 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 196 rushing yards in 23 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jhalen Pharr-McNair, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hobbton came out on top against Lakewood on Friday by a score of 20-14 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Hobbton's win came from a few key players Tarboro will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amir Tate, who rushed for 96 yards and a pair of scores. Reginald Thompson helped out on the ground, rushing for 124 yards.
Tarboro's victory bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Hobbton, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Tarboro has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 366.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hobbton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 323.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
