After a string of four wins, Goldwater's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cactus Shadows Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Friday.

While Goldwater ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20.

Joseph Sotelo Valdez paced Goldwater's offense, picking up 14 kills. Sotelo Valdez got some help from Brandan Tran and his 35 assists. David Martinez controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Goldwater's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Cactus Shadows, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-8.

Goldwater didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Thunderbird on the 8th. As for Cactus Shadows, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Bradshaw Mountain on the 4th.
