Baseball Recap: Windber Comes Up Short

Windber suffered their closest defeat since April 7th on Thursday. They fell just short of the Meyersdale Red Raiders by a score of 5-3. The Ramblers haven't had much luck with the Red Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Jacob Liebfried was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Liebfried was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cole Mash was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Windber's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cole Heinrich, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Windber's record is now 9-5. As for Meyersdale, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-3.

Windber didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-8 victory against Conemaugh Valley on the 1st. As for Meyersdale, they have also already played their next matchup, a 16-0 win against Ferndale on the 4th.
