Football Recap: Covenant Academy Skates Past Holy Spirit Prep with Ease

Covenant Academy won against Crisp Academy last Friday with 46 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Rams blew past the Holy Spirit Prep Cougars 46-7. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-0.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Landon Sneed and Westin Robinson. Sneed gained 159 total yards and two touchdowns while Robinson rushed for 92 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 92 rushing yards gave Robinson a new career-high. Shepard Fitzgerald made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Covenant Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Fitzgerald and Seth Daugherty. Fitzgerald got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win made it two in a row for Covenant Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 13 points in those games. As for Holy Spirit Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covenant Academy will take on Westwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Holy Spirit Prep, they will square off against Citizens Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
