Baseball Recap: Erie's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Erie had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Warren Dragons by a score of 8-5 on Monday. For the Royals, this counts as revenge for the 10-8 victory the Dragons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Chase Benedict made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Erie is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-5 otherwise. Benedict was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Collin Nuber, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Musone, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Erie's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Warren, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Erie wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Cathedral Prep on the 23rd. Warren has also already played their next match (against Central Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
