Basketball Recap: Weiss Takes a Loss

Weiss lost against Bryan back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Weiss Wolves fell 55-44 to the Bryan Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while the Vikings are ranked 203rd).

Despite the loss, Weiss saw an underclassman step up: freshman Krystyna Dennis dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Dennis has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Williams, who posted ten points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Weiss and nudges their season record down to 12-9. As for Bryan, their record now sits at 14-7.

Weiss will take on Georgetown at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Georgetown knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Weiss likes a good challenge. As for Bryan, they will face off against Killeen at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Bryan's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Killeen has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
