Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Birmingham). They walked away with a 73-61 win over the Warren Bears on Saturday.

Warren's loss came despite strong showings from King Johnson and Jorge Mota. Johnson went 7 of 16 en route to 21 points, while Mota went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Mota has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Perez, who posted nine points.

Birmingham's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Warren, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Birmingham and Warren could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Birmingham (ranked 583rd) will meet Bakersfield Christian (ranked 264th) on January 3, 2025. Similarly, Warren (ranked 447th) will meet Marina (ranked 147th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
