Recap: McCormick Chiefs vs. Silver Bluff Bulldogs

After flying high against the Ware Shoals Hornets last Tuesday, the McCormick Chiefs came back down to earth. McCormick took a hard 69-52 fall against Silver Bluff on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, McCormick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while Silver Bluff is ranked 53rd).

Silver Bluff's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Krystal Johnson led the charge by almost dropping a triple-double on 21 points, 15 rebounds, and nine steals. Johnson hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Makya Bing, who scored 19 points along with five assists and four steals.

McCormick bumped their record down to 4-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Silver Bluff, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

McCormick will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitmire at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Silver Bluff, they will head out on the road to challenge Strom Thurmond at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Strom Thurmond focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Tuesday.
