Softball Game Preview: Republic County Buffaloes vs. Ellsworth Bearcats

The Republic County Buffaloes will face off against the Ellsworth Bearcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Republic County has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Republic County couldn't beat Beloit on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Buffaloes came up short against the Trojans, falling 22-7. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grae Siemsen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times she's played.

Meanwhile, Ellsworth lost 16-6 to Spearville last Friday.

Ellsworth saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Johanna Lindsley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Alexis Moore was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ellsworth's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Republic County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Republic County suffered a grim 15-6 defeat to Ellsworth when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
