Softball Recap: Scituate Spartans vs. Chariho Chargers

Scituate extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They came up short against the Chariho Chargers, falling 14-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 11-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Victoria Geisser was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Ricci went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Jeannenot went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave Ricci a new career-high.

In other batting news, Chariho got a massive performance out of Brianna DeGiacomo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs DeGiacomo has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin O'Leary, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Scituate has already played their next contest (against Johnston), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Chariho, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 15-1 loss against La Salle Academy on the 8th.
