Softball Recap: Awaken Christian Takes a Loss

Awaken Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lincoln County Lynx. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lynx this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 on Thursday.

Cailey Velarde was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Awaken Christian's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lincoln County, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8.

Looking ahead, Awaken Christian will square off against GV Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Guardians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lincoln County, they will challenge Laughlin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
