The third road contest was the charm for Marsing, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past the Melba Mustangs 12-6 on Friday. Considering the Huskies have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brooklyn Roadenbaugh made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Natalie Thoene was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Thoene, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Marsing kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Marsing picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 7-5. As for Melba, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-7.
Looking ahead, Marsing will be playing at home against Parma at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Melba, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-14 win against Payette on the 12th.
