Softball Game Preview: Western Guilford Hornets vs. Ragsdale Tigers

Western Guilford is 1-6 against Ragsdale since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Western Guilford is taking a road trip to challenge Ragsdale at 6:00 p.m. Western Guilford has given up an average of 22.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Western Guilford is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Friday. They lost 18-0 to Northern Guilford.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Ragsdale's offense. They came up short against Southwest Guilford on Friday, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Ragsdale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Gray, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Gray has posted over her last 11 matches. Skyler Bryant was another, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.

Ragsdale's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Western Guilford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Western Guilford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .362. However, it's not like Ragsdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Western Guilford might still be hurting after the 19-3 defeat they got from Ragsdale in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Western Guilford avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
