Football Recap: Northeast Falls to Lakewood in First Game of Season

Northeast unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Lakewood Spartans 49-0 on Friday. The Vikings lost against the Spartans in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 13-10 score last time.

Ayden Wallace had a dynamite game For Lakewood., rushing for 132 yards and two TDs on only five carries, while also throwing for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Wallace a new career-high in passer rating (161.9). Another player making a difference was Michael Reed, who picked up 60 receiving yards and two scores.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast will face off against Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakewood, they will challenge Largo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
