Football Recap: Sandy Creek Starts Season with Victory Against Herkimer

Sandy Creek had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They strolled past the Herkimer Magicians with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 22-7. The Comets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Magicians, too.

Leading Sandy Creek to victory were Hudson Hunt and Adam Trudell. Hunt rushed for 87 yards and one score on only five carries, while Trudell rushed for 124 yards and one touchdown. Those 87 rushing yards gave Hunt a new career-high.

Coming up, Sandy Creek will square off against Cato-Meridian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Comets' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Herkimer, they will face off against Onondaga at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
