Baseball Recap: Ursuline Drops Season-High Score on Columbiana

There's no place like home for Ursuline, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Columbiana Clippers on Monday. The Fighting Irish's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The result came thanks to Thomas Kosovan's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ursuline is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on CJ Snyder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Matt Pesa also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Ursuline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Ursuline picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-6. As for Columbiana, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ursuline will challenge Harding at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Columbiana, they will welcome Leetonia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
