Basketball Recap: Jac-Cen-Del Comes Up Short

Jac-Cen-Del lost against Southwestern back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The contest between the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles and the Southwestern Rebels didn't end well, with the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles falling 59-44. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Jac-Cen-Del lost, don't look at Cheyenne Cullen. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 12 on her way to 17 points and five assists. The dominant performance gave Cullen a new career-high in points. Kellsie Bedel was another key player, putting up six points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southwestern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savannah Nussbaum, who posted seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. Nussbaum is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Olivia Simpson, who had eight points in addition to nine boards and seven assists.

Jac-Cen-Del's loss dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Southwestern, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Jac-Cen-Del will challenge Hauser at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Jac-Cen-Del is facing Hauser at the right time seeing as Hauser is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Southwestern, they will face off against Switzerland County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwestern has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 178 points over their last three matches.
