Basketball Recap: Shamiyah Mubarak's Big Game Can't Quite Lead American History over North Star Academy

After flying high against Shabazz last Thursday, American History came back down to earth. The American History Eagles took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Star Academy. The Eagles lost against North Star Academy in their previous head to head back in January of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-23 score last time.

American History lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Shamiyah Mubarak, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominique Jackson, who put up three points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks.

Even though they lost, American History smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

American History's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for North Star Academy, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

American History will venture away from home to challenge Union at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Star Academy, they will host Cedar Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
