            Baseball Recap: Union City Bears vs. Iroquois Braves        
        
		
        
        
            After only two  runs in their last  match, Union City made sure to put some  runs up on the board against Iroquois  on Tuesday. The Bears came out on top against the Braves by a score of  14-9. Considering the Bears' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
 Aiden Shuman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He  pitched 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. Shuman was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 3-for-5 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and two  runs.

 In other batting news,  Trevin Capela and  Ian Kinney did most of the damage at the plate:  Capela  scored two  runs while going 3-for-5, while  Kinney  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances. Those  three  stolen bases gave  Kinney a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Cooper Fox, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances.
Union City's first  victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Iroquois,  they are  on  a  12-game losing streak  (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
 Looking ahead, Union City will host Youngsville  at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine  runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Iroquois, they will venture away from home to  square off against Cochranton  at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
