Franklin Pierce had just enough and edged out Orting 6-5 on Tuesday. Franklin Pierce hasn't had any issues with Orting recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Leila Kennach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.
At the plate, Franklin Pierce got a big performance out of Laneigha Garcia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Gade, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Washington put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over Steilacoom. 11 seems to be a good number for the Patriots as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Steve-Rae Garcia-Zamora made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 14 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dee Moore, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Harmony Steenhard was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Everything went Franklin Pierce's way against Washington when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Franklin Pierce made off with a 17-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Franklin Pierce since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
