Basketball Recap: Muscle Shoals Takes Down Athens in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Muscle Shoals had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 51-42 win over the Athens Golden Eagles on Monday. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Muscle Shoals has also been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Athens, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season.

As of now, neither Muscle Shoals nor Athens have any future games scheduled.
