Softball Recap: Moriarty Pintos vs. Taos Tigers        
        
		
            
 After flying high against Taos  on Saturday, Moriarty came back down to earth. The Moriarty Pintos fell  8-5 to the Taos Tigers on Saturday. Moriarty was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Taos apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played.
  Isabella Gallegos was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she  struck out nine batters over  five innings while giving up  three earned  (and four unearned) runs off   five  hits. Gallegos has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in nine consecutive pitching appearances. Gallegos was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring three  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
 Gallegos wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Emma Rodiguez, who  went 1-for-4 with a  triple, a  run,  and  an  RBI.
 Even though they lost, Moriarty  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with ten  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taos only tossed four.
 On Taos' side,  the team  relied heavily on  Isabella Lucero, who  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, a  triple,  and two  RBI.  Alexis Etzel was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 4-for-4.
 Moriarty has  been struggling recently as they've  lost five of their last six matches,  which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record  this season. As for Taos, their win  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 8-15.
 As of now, neither Moriarty nor Taos have any future games scheduled.
