Sedgwick County had won seven straight games and Lainee Nein did her part to make it eight on Friday. The Sedgwick County Cougars walked away with a 51-44 victory over the Merino Rams thanks in part to Nein, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, she now owns an excellent 45.1% field goal percentage.

Piper Buettenback was another key player, putting up eight points. Those eight points gave her a new career-high.

Despite the loss, Merino had strong showings from Kya Piel, who posted 18 points along with six assists and three steals, and Brooklyn Sutter, who went 6-for-12 en route to 15 points and five boards. Piel's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jay Lynch, who earned four points and four steals.

Sedgwick County's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points over those games. As for Merino, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 15-1.

Sedgwick County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-36 victory against Briggsdale on the 8th. As for Merino, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 53-37 win against Akron on the 13th.
