The MaxPreps Top 25 national high school boys basketball rankings have been unpredictable all season. This weekend proved no different as the Spalding Hoophall Classic and Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions helped shake things up.
No. 8 Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.) was the week's biggest mover, jumping seven spots after wins over then-No. 23 Huntington Prep (Huntington, W.Va.) at Flyin' to the Hoop and then-No. 10 La Lumiere at the
Spalding Hoophall Classic.
Other big games at the Hoophall included:
• No. 1 Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) defeating No. 13 IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) 76-64.
• Sunrise Christian Academy (Bel Aire, Kan.) annihilating Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix) 91-48.
• No. 11 Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.) defeating previous No. 14 Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) 70-62.
• Previous No. 16 Rancho Christian (Temecula, Calif.) dropping a pair of games against No. 6 DeMatha 72-65 and No. 25 Camden (N.J.) 61-59.
Other big winners from the holiday weekend include No. 2 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va), which captured its fourth Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions title before taking down Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) 84-70 at Hoophall.
No. 3 Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah) also upended previous No. 2 Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (Chattanooga, Tenn.) 94-82.
Four new teams enter the rankings this week. No. 23 Rutgers Prep (Somerset, N.J.), No. 24 Poly (Baltimore) and No. 25 Camden (N.J.) enter the rankings for the first time this season while No. 21 Long Island Lutheran (Brookville, N.Y.) re-enters the rankings after being on the outside looking in for the past month.

1. (Last week 1) Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.), 19-0
Defeated a pair of opponents for the second time this season, knocking off No. 13 IMG Academy 76-64 and McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.) 94-65 at Hoophall.
2. (3) Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.), 27-1
Pulled of the "Springfield Double" by capturing the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions title before traveling to the Hoophall and beating Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas). The Warriors took down Kickapoo (Springfield, Mo.) 78-63, Vashon (St. Louis) 56-51 and No. 12 Paul VI 72-57.
3. (4) Wasatch Academy (Mt. Pleasant, Utah), 21-1
Bolstered resume with a signature win over No. 2 Hamilton Heights Christian Academy. The Tigers also own victories over No. 12 Paul VI and No. 22 Long Island Lutheran earlier in the year. Their lone loss is to Oak Hill Academy.
Blew past Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix) 91-48 at the Spalding Hoophall Classic. The Buffaloes travel to the Dr. Pepper Classic and play McCallie (Chattanooga) and Memphis East (Memphis) on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, respectively.
Avenged its only loss of the season, throttling Newton (Covington) 86-39. The Rams have a rematch with one-loss Shiloh this week.
Picked up two quality wins over the weekend at the Hoophall, defeating Simeon (Chicago) 57-49 and Rancho Christian (Temecula, Calif.) 72-65. The Stags head back to the DMV this week with three showdowns against conference opponents.

Academy.

This talented group has been the surprise team out of the Golden State this season, compiling an impressive resume that includes titles at the Tarkanian Classic and King Cotton Classic.
Weather wiped out a potential meeting over the weekend with unbeaten Madison La Follette of Wisconsin.
The
Panthers fell to Oak Hill Academy in the Bass Pro title game before defeating No. 17 Sierra Canyon at the Hoophall.
Split a pair of Hoophall games, beating Patrick School (Hillside, N.J) 73-54 and losing to top-ranked Montverde Academy.
Took a pair of losses over the weekend, falling to No. 3 Wasatch Academy before getting taken down by Westtown (West Chester, Pa.) 67-62 in a massive upset. The Hawks look to rebound at the Quincy Shootout as they battle Mehlville (St. Louis) on Jan. 24 and St. Louis Christian Academy (St. Louis) on Jan. 25.
14. (10) La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.), 13-3
Picked up a quality 47-42 win over Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) before falling to Prolific Prep in a rematch of a game the Lakers won at the Chick-fil-A Classic.
Boast
quality out-of-state wins over Vashon (St. Louis), Whitney Young
(Chicago), Archbishop Stepinac (White Plains, N.Y.), Male (Louisville,
Ky.) and Tampa Catholic (Tampa, Fla.).
Split a pair at the Spalding Hoophall Classic, blowing out an over-matched Dominican (Whitefish Bay, Wisc.) before losing their third game of the year against No. 11 Paul VI. The Trailblazers will look to rebound Jan. 23 against a solid Windward (Los Angeles) squad.
18. (21) Duncanville (Texas), 18-2The defending UIL Class 6A champions continue their impressive in-state winning streak, defeating 37 consecutive Lone Star State opponents dating back to last season.
Could be tested at the Belleville East Tournament this week after a tremendous start to the season. The Kahoks are a strong contender to win the Class 4A state tournament.
Unexpectedly tested last week in a 75-71 win over Jefferson Davis (Montgomery). Travels to Pinson Valley (Pinson, Ala.), which is 20-3.
Suffered a surprising 47-43 upset loss last week at Archbishop Carroll (Washington, D.C.). The Cadets remain in the rankings on the strength of their run to the Beach Ball Classic title game that included wins over No. 22 Long Island Lutheran and No. 24 Poly.
A tough February stretch awaits as the Crusaders take on No. 17 Sierra Canyon on Feb. 8 and Patrick School (Hillside, N.J.) on Feb. 13.
A hot start has put the Argonauts in position to make a deep run in the New Jersey Tournament of Champions behind a talented roster led by Top 50 junior
Trey Patterson.
Lone loss came to St. John's at the Beach Ball Classic. Quality wins over Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.), Millennium (Goodyear, Ariz.), Coronado (Henderson, Nev.) and most recently 86-67 over Chester (Pa.) on Jan. 18.
