Basketball Recap: Lanier Comes Up Short

Lanier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Brackenridge Eagles 62-29. While losing is never fun, the Voks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1317th, while the Eagles are ranked 621st).

Ashlynn Cortinas was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds for Brackenridge. Cortinas has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Sarah Arriaga was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 boards.

Lanier's loss dropped their record down to 4-29. As for Brackenridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Lanier nor Brackenridge have any future games scheduled.
