Volleyball Recap: Olive Branch Takes a Loss

Olive Branch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Lake Cormorant, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Conquistadors have suffered since September 4th.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-11, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Olive Branch still got an impressive performance from Katrina Shears, who had 18 digs and three aces. Shears is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Lake Cormorant's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emily Huerta, who had 12 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Huerta has posted over her last seven matches. Another player making a difference was Kayla Gonzalez, who had ten assists and four aces.

Olive Branch's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Lake Cormorant, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-8.

Looking ahead, Olive Branch will take on Southaven at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lake Cormorant, they will challenge Alcorn Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
