Baseball Game Preview: Hampton Bulldogs vs. Patrick Henry Rebels

The Hampton Bulldogs will challenge the Patrick Henry Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hampton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Hampton sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Johnson County.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Patrick Henry). They blew past Rural Retreat 20-4 on Thursday. The Rebels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Aidan Monahan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Monahan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kolby Hicks was a standout: he went 5-for-6 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hank Rutherford, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.

Patrick Henry was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Patrick Henry's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Hampton, their victory bumped their record up to 14-11.
