After a string of three wins, Philip Barbour's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Marietta Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Colts were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in September of 2021.
While Philip Barbour ultimately came up short, they really made Marietta work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 18-25, 15-9.
Izzy Knotts paced Philip Barbour's offense, picking up eight kills. Knotts got some help from Finley Carpenter and her 14 assists. Finally, Knotts was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.
Marietta got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Haley Wilkinson out in front who had 24 digs and three assists. Wilkinson is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Ava Prim was another key player, getting ten assists and five digs.
Philip Barbour's loss dropped their record down to 28-7-2. As for Marietta, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Coincidentally, Philip Barbour and Marietta will both be playing Bridgeport the next time they take the court. The Colts will host the Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Tigers will play them later in the day, at 6:30 p.m.
