Softball Recap: Myrtle's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Myrtle won the last time they faced Jumpertown and things went their way on Friday too. Myrtle never let Jumpertown get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brooklyn Streich was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Khloe Bennett and Mary Ella Mayer did most of the damage at the plate: Bennett scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Mayer went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave Mayer a new career-high. Ally Murphy was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Myrtle kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Myrtle and bumps their season record up to 9-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Jumpertown, they moved to 5-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Coming up, Myrtle will take on Ripley at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Jumpertown, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Jumpertown Cardinals take on Pine Grove Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
